1 Peter 5:6-7 (KJV)
"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
God called us to bring everything to Him, and to put Him in complete control (Matthew 11:28-30 - "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.") A yoke was a device used to steer and guide oxen - in modern terms, Jesus may have said, "Come unto me, and give me the steering wheel of your life. Let me drive and control the pace, because my path is smooth, and my pace is easy."
Ananias and Sapphira brought almost everything to God, but kept some of it back to handle on their own. (Acts 5). How often do I make a show of bringing all of my issues to God, yet hold back on one? I know that, right now, I'm dealing with the one area of my life in which I am dissatisfied - being single. I don't believe that it is God's will for me to be alone, yet no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to develop a fruitful, healthy, Godly relationship. Why? Because, quite frankly, I haven't turned it over to Him. Over the past few weeks (and through several friends and family members), God began to deal with me, that I need to let go, and place Him in charge, and quit trying so hard to do it myself.
God, please steer. I don't know where I'm going. I want to cast this last bit of care on you, because I know that you have a better plan for my life than I could ever possibly come up with.
