Proponents of torture (or, as they like to call it, ''enhanced interrogation techniques'') embrace a consequentialist philosophy - The Ends Justify the Means. That is to say, torture works, therefore, torture is an acceptable practice. Opponents of torture argue that torture doesn't work, and therefore shouldn't be done. Both sides miss the point.
